New Hotel Development in Monument, London

The JMK Group is delighted to confirm the successful approval of planning permission from a City Of London Corporation for a new 180-bedroom luxury hotel in 27–28 Clement’s Lane, a Grade II-listed Victorian site in the heart of London in Monument. This exciting development is JMK’s fourth hotel in London and represents a significant expansion to its overall portfolio of hotels, while marking its first venture into luxury-branded hospitality. The project is located in Zone 1, Monument, City of London – EC4N 7AE.

With established operations across London, Dublin, Cork and Waterford, and multiple openings planned for Q1 2026—including Aloft & Residence Inn by Marriott in Belfast, Home2 Suites by Hilton in Dublin, and a luxury boutique hotel in Kensington, London—as well as an active development in Galway, the company continues to expand its presence in key city and regional markets.

Work in the Monument site is scheduled to commence in Q2 2026, with the hotel expected to open in Q1 2028.

  • Conservation, reuse and public realm

JMK is dedicated to repurposing the existing building through a careful programme of refurbishment and extension, while safeguarding the site’s historic significance. The project places a strong emphasis on adaptive reuse, carbon efficiency, and meaningful community engagement which is core to JMK’s strategy of hotel developments. The project will transform a presently underutilised building into a high-end luxury hotel.

  • Sustainability at the Core

Sustainability is central to the design of the new luxury branded hotel, with the project aiming for BREEAM Excellent and LEED Gold Certifications through the adoption of sustainable practices and maximized energy efficiencies.

“This project represents a significant milestone for JMK as we expand our London portfolio with a luxury branded hotel. Situated in the heart of the City, a stone’s throw from Bank station and within easy reach of London’s major tourist and iconic destinations, the site offers exceptional connectivity and broad market appeal. From the outset we have prioritised sensitive restoration and sustainability, embedding conservation led design and low‑carbon strategies into every stage of the scheme to honour the building’s heritage while delivering a contemporary, high‑quality hospitality experience.” – Zain Kajani, Director, JMK Group.
